Martin

“	"There's a bunch of interesting people in the valley. Are you friends with many people? I live in the countryside. Not too many folks out there."

Martin is a teenager from the countryside outside Pelican Town who works at JojaMart. Generally hopeful, he enjoys his trips to Pelican Town where he gets the chance to see more than the fields and mountains where he's from. On his free time, Martin comes on Sunday's to borrow books from the library within the museum, even when he has a library nearby. Martin is polite and positive with customers and co-workers, but doesn't have many friends outside work who aren't online. His only real friend at JojaMart is Claire.

Schedule[]

Martin only comes to Pelican Town on Tuesdays and Saturdays for work, and Sunday's to visit the library. If JojaMart closes, he will still visit the library. He returns to working on Tuesdays and Saturdays once the movie theater opens.

His schedule changes if the player marries Claire. Martin will take her Friday shift and also work on rainy days while she stays home.

Martin's schedule also changes after Claire's 6 heart event. If the Community Center is restored, he takes Claire's Monday shift so she can attend Community Center Day. Martin will also attend the Flower Dance, Stardew Valley Fair, and Spirit's Eve holidays.

Martin calls Claire over to help and she see's he needs to press a special button first. Martin asks Pam if she would like a receipt and she curtly responds "No." After she leaves, Martin tells Claire that Pam is scary, and Claire warns him she's a regular customer. Martin thanks Claire for the help.

Description: A Good Book	Martin is reading in the library when the Farmer surprises him. He seems embarrassed about something and the Farmer asks either: "What are you reading?" or "You come to town on your days off?" Either way, Martin confesses he's been doing research on local genealogy. One reason he comes to Pelican Town library instead of his own is because this library has the best records of families in the area. Martin suggests it's a weird hobby for someone his age and the Farmer responds: "Yeah, it's kind of weird." or "Not that weird." Regardless, Martin thinks it's weird, but tells the Farmer he's adopted and sometimes looks at the records hoping he might learn something about who his biological parents were. He says he loves his parents, but never felt like he fit in. He says he feels more at home in Pelican Town than out in the country and he's happy to have met you and Claire. Martin thanks the Farmer for listening and goes back to reading.

Description: Shift Change	Martin and Claire are at work when Claire suddenly becomes ill. She asks him to take over for her shift early and worries about what she'll do until the bus leaves. The Farmer comes into the building and Martin asks them if Claire might stay at the farm until her bus arrives. The Farmer can say: "Of course she can." or "I'm not sure that's a good idea." If rejected, Martin suggests Gunther might let her stay at the library. Either way, he tells Claire he's found her a place to stay. Martin asks the Farmer to watch the counter while he helps Claire get to the farm or the library. When Martin comes back, the Farmer is helping Jodi with an order at the counter. Martin thanks you after Jodi leaves and says he worries about Claire. The Farmer responds: "You seem to really care about her." or "Isn't she a little old for you?" Martin either realizes he does care for her, or says it wasn't fair to point out the age difference. He says Claire has been really nice to him, always helping him at work when he needs it. Martin thanks the Farmer again for helping and says he might pick up some soup for Claire later that evening.

Description: The Confession	Martin and Claire have left work for the night and are on their way home by bus. Martin decides to confess his feelings to Claire. He says she's been really nice to him, and Claire says she's happy to have made friend at work. Martin says he likes her as more than a friend, and even though he's younger if they make each other happy, could she like him as more than a friend someday. Claire is silent before telling Martin she's glad he said something. She tells him no, and says she'll always be his friend, but he has a whole world still to see and it wouldn't be fair to promise more than she can give. Martin is visibly hurt by the rejection and Claire offers to take a short walk until the bus comes to give him some space. Before she goes, he says he'd like to still be friends.
